Zoe Samsarelou, piano, artistic direction

Zoe Samsarelou

zoe Zoe Samsarelou studied the piano in Volos and at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, in Greece with Professor George Thymis. She continued her studies  at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin and graduated from the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, Germany under the guidance of Professor Marian Migdal.

She has given a great number of piano recitals as well as chamber music concerts and participated in festivals in Greece, Germany, Italy, Malta, Turkey,  Egypt and Syria. In Greece she has performed as a soloist with various orchestras.

Ms Samsarelou’s repertoire consists of classical as well as contemporary compositions and works by Greek composers. She has also recorded for Greek National Radio and Television. She has recorded a CD with works for solo piano of Astor Piazzolla and participated in the cd produced by the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki with works of greek composers.

 

Since 2000, she has been Cultural Director of “Musical Encounters”, an international music summer course, in which she conducts piano and chamber music classes. In 2008 the festival was re-named, to become “Pelion - Music Festival” , which takes place in Tsangarada and Zagora,  East Pelion, Central Greece.

In 2006  Ms Samsarelou , in collaboration with the baritone Professor Mesut Iktu created the “Duet for the Greek and Turkish Friendship”, with performances all over Greece and Turkey. In 2004  she founded the ensemble for two pianos “Temperamentum” which consists of performances by pianists who have graduated from her class.

Zoe Samsarelou has worked as a piano teacher and as a Cultural Director at several Conservatories in Thessaloniki and from 1997 to 2005 was an instructor at the University of Macedonia. Since 1994 she has been teaching the piano at the State Conservatory in Thessaloniki. She has also graduated from the School of Archaeology at Aristotle University.
